Abstract | One stage, of many, in the collection and analysis of mass spectrometry data is chosen for this investigative study. Closely related problems that are of interest for this research are the determination of: i) which points in the plane should have membership to which lines, ii) when a collection of points should be described as a line, and iii) how one knows that all lines have been found and that none have been missed in the particular data studied. This paper presents a brief survey of possibly related solutions along with the construction, experimentation and results of the use of a simple data structure for attempting to provide answers to the aforementioned problems. Future studies involving the aid of domain experts is required in order to further elaborate these preliminary time-constrained findings. |
