Abstract | The work described in this report was completed as part of the Coastal Flood Mitigation Canada project, which aims to: bring together researchers, practitioners, and communities to share knowledge and expertise in support of disaster risk reduction strategies for coastal storm surge and tsunami risks; develop and promote an evidence based approach for coastal storm and tsunami disaster risk reduction decisions; and demonstrate best practise approaches. Three case studies are underway, one for each of Canada’s Atlantic, Arctic, and Pacific coasts, in which the project team has conducted, or is working to complete, a coastal flood hazard and risk assessment. Knowledge gained from each case study will support the development of guidelines summarizing best practices and methods for coastal flood hazard assessment in support of risk-based analyses. |
