Abstract | The transmission loss and impact insulation of floors comprised of 203 mm (8 in) thick precast/prestressed concrete hollowcores slabs were evaluated in the direct floor testing facility at the National Research Council. The first floor of concrete hollowcore slabs had a mass per unit area of 269 kg/m2 without grout and a mass per unit area of 273 kg/m2 once the grout was applied between the slabs. The second floor of concrete hollowcore slabs had a mass per unit area of 301 kg/m2 without grout and a mass per unit area of 305 kg/m2 once the grout was applied between the slabs. This floor was also tested with a 25.4 mm (1") underlayment which was poured directly onto the concrete hollowcore slabs and with a carpet and underpad on the underlayment. |
