Résumé	The flow in the impeller of a centrifugal flow compressor is complex, and is not yet fully understood. A theoretical model of this flow is proposed, from first principles, and an experimental method of investigating the validity of this model is described. An observer is placed in the centre of a large model of the impeller, and by rotating with it is enabled to examine the flow in the impeller passages in great detail . Experimental results obtained by this method are analysed, and some tentative conclusions on the accuracy of parts of the model are put forward.
