| Résumé | This paper investigates the effect of reinforcement corrosion on the residual strength and failure mechanism of columns under quasi-static concentric and eccentric loads. Corrosion was induced experimentally on columns using accelerated corrosion. Columns were corroded at variable levels (low to very high) and different reinforcement patterns (transverse, transverse and longitudinal). A 3D numerical model was developed using Diana, which incorporates corrosion effects on materials to investigate further corrosion scenarios. Results indicate that low levels of tie corrosion primarily affect ductility, while the reduction in ultimate capacity is more prominent as the corrosion level increases. At high levels of corrosion, a significant reduction in the confining pressure (22%) occurs because of tie fracture, leading to longitudinal reinforcement buckling. |
