| Résumé | A study of the tidal motion in the Fraser River was made using a one-dimensional mathematical model. The equations of motion and continuity were solved by a direct explicit finite-difference scheme and the model was calibrated to reproduce water elevations throughout the river. A proposal for the improvement of navigation conditions and the alleviation of flood danger in the Lower Fraser River, the Boundary Bay Diversion mathematical model and the previously obtained from a Scheme, was studied using the results were compared with those hydraulic model constructed at the National Research Council. It was concluded that a one-dimensional mathematical model could supply much of the information required to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of large-scale engineering works in the tidal reach of the Fraser River. |
