| Résumé | A numerical study on the interaction of pack ice in water is carried out, where the problem is divided into two parts: (a) the motion of ice pieces caused by wave action; (b) the interaction between ship and pack ice. Mathematical expressions have been derived for the motion of ice pieces due to wave action and for the ship resistance as a consequence of the interaction between pack ice and ship.
