Abstract	This is the record of a Conference of most of the active Canadian workers in the field of soil mechanics, held in the Seminar Room of the Montreal Road Laboratories of the National Research Council of Canada, in Ottawa on December 14 and 15, 1950, under the auspices of the Associate Committee on Soil and Snow Mechanics. About 70 persons were present from various parts of Canada to take part in general discussions relating to problems in soil mechanics and to hear talks on allied subjects. A list of those attending is included as Appendix A of these Proceedings.
