| Abstract | The Structures Laboratory at the Institute for Research in Construction (IRC) has begun a research program on the durability of civil engineering structures. The aim of this research is to develop techniques for the prediction of service life in design, and for the assessment of residual service life of existing structures for which rehabilitation is contemplated. A review of the literature that was done to identify research needsrevealed many hundreds of articles in scientific journals and articles. There are far too many for a designer to read in search of answers for immediate problems, and as a first attempt to make relevant information more accessible, short summaries of selected articles are offered here. |
