| Abstract | The following Laboratory Memorandum is a trip report on tours of turbomachinery research facilities in Canada and the U.S. The purpose of the tours was to familiarize Engine Laboratory personnel with features of compressor research facilities which could be incorporated into a proposed in-house facility for Engine Health Monitoring of gas turbine engines. The report describes the type of research carried out by the various facilities, the general arrangements and hardware of the test rigs, and data acquisition and reduction hardware and techniques. The report outlines ideas for the incorporation of proven features and techniques for efficient performance of compressor research observed on the facility tours. The report also discusses CFD activities in the various facilities, and recommendations for positive action regarding the use of CFD in conjunction with EHM compressor research. |
