Abstract
On Monday, December 30, 1968, at 8;15 a.m., a Dorman diesel engine, driving an emergency electrical generator on Parliament Hill, Ottawa, was seriously damaged during a routine che,ck-run. The engine was sent to the N.R.C. Engine Laboratory for examination and determining the cause of this failure. The N.R.C. Fuels and Lubricants Section and Physical Metallurgy Division of Department of Energy, Mines and Resources were subsequently asked to conduct chemical and metallurgical analyses, respectively.
