| Abstract | The results of wind tunnel tests on a series of two-dimensional models simulating circular cables with various ice formations are presented. The stability of small oscillations of a transmission line in a steady wind normal to the span is considered, and the wind tunnel results are used to calculate the behaviour of a cable with D shaped fairings. The results of dynamic tests with an oscillating model show reasonable agreement with the theoretical predictions. |
