Abstract | This report will link together the importance of understanding different methods of fabrication to the designing ability of an engineer. The fabrication method discussed is welding. In particular, focusing on the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process and the Gas Metal Arc Welding process. Also, communication will be discussed concentrating on the engineer's relationship with the technicians and fabricators. Furthermore, safety is discussed with the intent that safety always comes first. Welding basics will be discussed such as the welding processes, electric welding circuit, welding procedure, positional welding and welding joints. The reader should focus upon the designing process in relation to welding while reading through the report. Relate the ability to become an efficient and effective designer by knowing just one section of the welding process (arc welding) and how your designs will beneficiate. Then realize how many more types of welding processes there are and know that a good designer will know most of them while a great designer will know all of them and as well as the many more methods of fabrication. |
