| Abstract | The preliminary aerodynamic design of the high pressure turbine stage of a small turboshaft engine is presented. The design procedure consists of the engine cycle analysis, HPT meanline aerothermodynamic analysis and geometric design, hub and tip calculations, evaluation of rotor and nozzle losses, airfoil mean section design, and some off-design calculation. The resultant performance of the stage is within one percentage point of the target efficiency using the Kacker and Okapuu (1982) loss correlations. The calculation method was validated against published experimental data. |
