Abstract | This report describes a series of laboratory tests performed to measure the loads and observe the ice behaviour on the booms in Lac St. Pierre in the St. Lawrence Seaway. Two series of tests were performed at different scale factors: one series studied a full boom section at a scale of 1:17.6; while the other examined the relative performance of boom components at full-scale. Several different connecting arrangements and floating beams were tested. The ice loading conditions simulated several different interaction scenarios. |
