| Abstract | The "From Knowledge to Action" workshop, held in Ottawa on December 4, 2024, convened over sixty senior-level representatives from diverse sectors across Canada to discuss the future directions and impact of climate-resilient infrastructure guidance. Organized by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), and Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC), the workshop aimed to identify short- and long-term actions to enhance the resilience of communities, buildings, and infrastructure to climate change impacts. Through breakout sessions and plenary discussions, participants identified gaps in existing knowledge and guidance, and developed strategic recommendations focused on integration, knowledge enhancement, and economic viability. Key themes included overcoming barriers, fostering leadership, and embedding resilience into decision-making processes. The workshop underscored the need for collaboration across sectors to achieve climate resilience, emphasizing the importance of education, tailored communication, and the integration of resilience into existing systems. Moving from recommendations to implementation will require coordinated efforts and commitments from all interested parties, supported by monitoring and evaluation frameworks to ensure progress and continuous improvement. The insights and strategies developed during the workshop provide a foundation for advancing climate resilience in Canada's housing, infrastructure, and communities, aligning with broader national and provincial policy frameworks. |
