| Abstract | Vibration analyses were carried out on 80 tooth spur gears running on a gear fatigue rig at Pratt and Whitney Canada in Mississauga. Data were recorded at timed intervals during normal endurance test runs and then analyzed mainly using a Stewart Hughes Mechanical Systems Diagnostic Analyzer (MSDA) and gear analysis software package. This report discusses the results of these analyses with regard to the effectiveness of the MSDA system and the analysis methods. |
