| Abstract | This memorandum presents the results of an analysis of potential flow in a two-dimensional cascade of flat blades. These results take the form of velocity and pressure distributions around the leading edges of the blades, and angles of incidence of the flow in the cascade.
The analysis was made using the analogy between the flow of an ideal fluid and the flow of electrical current in a conducting paper. Part of this memorandum explains the method.
It was found that such a method is very useful in visualizing what happens in a fluid flow.
It was proved that a flat-bladed cascade is suitable only in the case of a flow coming parallel to the blades.
It was proved also that the design of the duct is very important for the efficiency of the cascade. |
