| Abstract | Web Services is a new direction for businesses to extend the scope of their business applications outside their firewalls. While service providers might require their consumers to provide some personal or financial information before granting access to their services, consumers are always concerned about the privacy risk associated with revealing such information. Consumers are also becoming aware of the dollar-value of their personal information and are willing sometimes to negotiate for some added-value services in return for this information. The purpose of the Privacy Negotiation Protocol (PnP) presented here is to enable the generation and negotiation of a bilateral privacy policy between consumers and service providers. The paper presents also an architecture that uses the protocol and identifies an extension to the P3P privacy policy description language in order to use it to express various options in a policy template. |
