Abstract | The Housing and Urban Development Association of Canada (HUDAC) and the Division of Building Research (DBR) are cooperating on a project to study energy use in housing. Four detached houses owned by HUDAC were made available to DBR for this study. The project has several objectives, all concerned with energy conservation in houses. During the heating season of 1978-79, a study was conducted on the effectiveness of thermally upgrading the house enclosure, including the basement. This Note presents some of the energy consumption data obtained and compares the performance of the standard and thermally-upgraded houses under similar occupancy patterns. |
