Abstract | An experimental wind-tunnel study was undertaken to examine the performance of available trailer-aerodynamic-technology types. Testing was undertaken in the NRC 9 m Wind Tunnel at 30% scale using a high-fidelity tractor-trailer model. Aerodynamic-drag coefficients were measured over a range of yaw angles up to ±15°, providing data to calculate wind-averaged-drag coefficients over a range of road speeds between 50 and 130 km/h, and are presented as drag-area metrics appropriate for comparison to the EPA and CARB traileraerodynamic-technology bin levels. |
