| Abstract | Flight tests in an artificial icing cloud were made on two sets of helicopter rotor blades equipped with de-icing heater mats embodying the spanwise and chordwise shedding principles. The tests demonstrated a decided performance advantage for the spanwise shedding system, although the chordwise shedding system had the advantage of greater constructional simplicity. |
