Abstract | This paper presents an active isolation mount using a flexible passive support in parallel with a voice coil actuator. This active mount is designed to reduce the N/rev harmonic vibration of a helicopter at the local seat structure. The active mount is tested in a simple single degree of freedom mechanical system to reduce vibration at a payload mass representative of a 95th percentile pilot. The system is tested experimentally and also modeled in Simulink®. The results from the experiment are compared to those obtained numerically. The active mount was shown to be effective by reducing vibration representative of a Bell-412 helicopter by 11.96 dB (74.77 %). |
