Abstract | To reach instructional objectives, students enrol in Web-based Distance Learning (WbDL) education programs, they are invited to complete learning activities in teams using ICT. However, few studies have addressed the competencies adult learners need to possess to progress in a distance learning context. We know little about the knowledge management practices of educational institutions, although they offer more and more WbDL opportunities. Our study aims to create and evaluate an initial knowledge repository (KR) associated with individual competencies for virtual teams supported by ICT in a distance learning context. This article reports experimentation conducted with Francophone teachers and school principals enrolled in an online distance learning program, and the knowledge and know-how included in an initial KR. The majority of learners found the repository useful since it improved the quality of their group work and made it easier to reach instructional objectives. |
