| Abstract | The experiment was associated with the testing of a new electronic fuel control. Two of these electronic fuel controls were installed on a helicopter power plant (Twin Pac) consisting of two PT6-4OO gas turbines connected to a common gearbox. The output from the gearbox was controlled by a dynamometer, in conjunction with a flywheel coupled in series with the single output shaft extending from the combination gearbox.
The fuel controls were tested on a steady state basis using aircraft and steady state type instruments and in a transient mode incorporating the use of a Digital PDP11/34 minicomputer based data acquisition system. The results from transients, usually in the form of X-Y plots, were analyzed on a comparative basis with respect to each other and with respect to a hybrid computer model at the Analysis Laboratory (NRC), simulating the Twin Pac installation. |
