| Abstract | As part of a study to encourage correction of field test cell data for variations in fuel properties, DND submitted a number of fuel sample analyses for review. The data received were compiled to determine means and variances in the density and the lower heating value of different shipments. Mean values were compared to values normally used in setting engine performance specifications. Errors in corrected fuel flow of up to three per cent may be introduced by current procedures, which do not include correction for lower heating value of the actual fuel used. |
