Abstract | This report describes an investigation into the procedure IOT currently uses to evaluate Prohaska's form factor during a standard open water resistance test analysis. Three issues were investigated: 1) Adopting Chauvenet's Criterion for evaluating data outliers during the Prohaska form factor determination. 2) The influence of immersed transom on form factor. 3) The influence of adding appendages on form factor. 4) Using a higher order power on Fr in the Prohaska form factor plot. Data from a number of resistance experiments will be used to investigate each issue and recommendations will be made to improve the existing resistance analysis software. |
