| Abstract | Two different 6 degree-of-freedom dynamometers were designed and used in model test programs to measure wave induced global loads and moments exerted on a model gravity base gructure (GBS). The first dynamometer used 3 six degree-of-freedom load cells, while the second used 6 single degree-of-freedom load cells. In this paper, the design, calibration and comparison of measurement accuracy are discussed. In addition to measuring the global loads and moments on a GBS model, both designs can be adapted for use in other applications. A discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of both designs are included in the paper. |
