| Abstract | A system for servo-controlling a cesium beam frequency standard is described, which, instead of frequency modulation, uses frequency switching between the half power points of the resonance. The switched frequencies are obtained in one stage of the frequency synthesizer from two oscillators phase locked respectively 43 cps above and below the center frequency. Since no frequency change occurs after the switching has taken place, this technique offers definite advantages when using low modulation frequencies. |
