Abstract
Microstructures of TiB₂ materials produced by the auxiliary metal bath process were characterized by Auger electron spectroscopy. The purpose was to identify titanium diboride phases formed in the metallic baths. Use was made of the “Auger chemical effect” which was found with boron by the comparison between the boron Auger signal from pure boron and a titanium diboride standard.
