| Abstract | To meet Canada’s objective to reduce operational GHG emissions to zero or near zero across provinces and territories by 2050, authorities having jurisdiction require a flexible framework to regulate GHG emissions due to building operation by using "levels" that move towards lower operational GHG emissions. This document present ahead of the publication of the National Model Codes in 2025, the development to date of requirements to reduce operational GHG emissions for new buildings as well as added requirements on energy efficiency for existing buildings during retrofit construction projects. |
