Abstract
A method has been developed for the qualitative assay of glucosinolates by gas chromatography. Silylation of eleven glucosinolates resulted in the formation of the trimethysilyl derivatives of the corresponding desulfoglucosinolates and all could be completely separated using two silicone columns. The trimethylsilyl derivatives of four glucosinolates extracted from rapeseed meal were well resolved on a single column and preliminary results of their quantitative determination compared favorably with results obtained by an independent assay.
