Abstract | A radiation-diffraction finite element (RDFE) program has been developed to solve linear scattering problems for floating structures in waves. In practical applications requiring a large number of finite elements, large arrays are often necessary to define the system of finite element equilibrium equations. Since larger systems of equations result in longer execution times, optimization and vectorization of the code were considered to be essential steps in transforming RDFE into a commercial software package. |
