| Abstract | This paper documents a new optical real-time tracking system used in the National Research Council Canada (NRC) 1.5 m Trisonic Wind Tunnel. The new system, based on the Optitrack developed by Natural Point, was implemented in LabVIEW. It was fully integrated with the wind tunnel environment and commissioned during a wind tunnel entry in 2019. The accuracy of the tracking system was determined to be +/- 0.015 inches in steady conditions and +/-0.030 inches (2) with an object moving at up to 1.5 inches per second. The angular accuracy varied between +/-0.7° in roll and +/-0.1° (2) in pitch and yaw. |
