Abstract
This is the first issue of the ARO Observer. Its publication, and the choice of opening headline, are both due to a somewhat acrimonious but nonetheless productive meeting of Eastern radio astronomers in Kingston in December of 1972. At that time it became clear that there was a considerable lack of communication among the users of the Algonquin Radio Observatory, and it was specifically requested that a newsletter be established. What you see is what you get.
