| Abstract | The results of some preliminary measurements of groundborne vibrations caused by passing freight trains in the Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec area are reported. The measured levels are compared to some existing criteria on human exposure to building vibrations to judge the severity of levels before taking any remedial action. The results indicate that the levels exceed the criteria set by ANSI and other standards for human exposure to building vibrations. However, the levels do not indicate any apparent danger to buildings based on an existing criterion for building damage. |
