Abstract | The report describes an improved type of electric drive attachment for wheel chairs which requires so little effort to operate that it can be controlled by someone whose manual ability is very limited. Noteworthy features of the drive are: it's simple design and clean appearance, trouble-free operation with a minimum of maintenance, a single, very light action control lever for steering and controlling forward or reverse motion of the chair, exceptional manoeuverability and an operating range of about 20 miles. The drive can be adpated to fit most of the standard models of wheel chairs. |
