Abstract | With the recent technological advances made in electronics, photonics, computer vision and computer graphics, it is now possible to construct reliable, high resolution and accurate three-dimensional active range cameras. In occasion of the opening of the new laboratory for reverse modeling of the Politecnico di Milano Italy, a series of experimentations concerned with the definitions of the required performance of active 3D vision systems for industrial design were performed. According of the results of these experimentations, we review what characterizes the majority of these 3-D vision systems, i.e., resolution, uncertainty and accuracy of 3-D information measurement. |
