Abstract | The behavior of the Ca II H and K emission lines as seen on 64 high-quality spectra of the RS CVn-type binary star AR Lac is investigated. Evidence is found for rapid (hourly) variability in both the emission strength and line profiles. Although a number of unusual events were observed, there appears to be no correlation between the emission intensity and orbital phase of the system or between the emission strength and the migrating photometric wave phenomena. |
