| Abstract | The requirement for a means for measuring torque on the VTOL fan rig in the Engine Laboratory led to development work on swirl reaction, electronic, and optical type torquemeters. After comparison of the three types, development proceeded on the optical type, since no simple optical torquemeter was known to exist.
This memorandum describes the optical torquemeter which has been developed in this laboratory and which may work well over a wide speed range. |
