Abstract | This report presents a study of the costs for the extra energy conservation measures that are now being used in a significant number of low energy houses in Western Canada. For an average size, contractor-built new house, the extra costs are in the range of $3,000 to $5,000. The payback, depending on the particular energy conservation measures employed, ranges from 4 to 25 years. |
