Abstract | This report describes the development of a sixteen-channel integrated-circuit data encoder that is part of a particle-counting experiment in the ISIS-A satellite. Emphasis is placed on the design factors which affect the reliability and performance of the encoder. An attempt is made to give the prospective experimenter a feel for the meticulous attention to detail that is necessary in the design, construction, and testing of spacecraft equipment. Some of the constraints that are beyond the control of the experimenter are discussed. |
