Abstract
Superplasticizing admixtures increase the workability of fresh concrete, making possible efficient placement and finishing. Their incorporation in concrete results in reduced water cement ratio and enhanced strength development. When used as a plasticizing agent, the increased workability is short lived, and after a period of 30 to 80 minutes, it rapidly decreases. One of the methods to retard the slump loss is by the addition of a suitable admixture so that the superplasticizer may be added at the ready-mix plant instead of at the job-site.
