| Abstract | A series of tests was conducted on a J85-CAN-15 turbojet engine to investigate the functioning of the T5 Amplifier and the Check Delay and Ramp Valve. In addition, the effects of a faulty A/B igniter on engine performance were assessed. Tests showed that amplifier and valve functioned properly. The VEN opening delay on A/B initiation was found to be affected by late light-offs, which should preclude its use as a definitive indicator for proper CDR valve functioning. A simulated unserviceable A/B igniter contributed to late light-offs, but did not appear to cause large compressor rollbacks. However, a correlation may exist between rollbacks and brief VEN contractions prior to A/B initiation. |
