| Abstract | The techniques of simulating atmospheric icing conditions in wind tunnels are reviewed and the conditions for ideal simulation are outlined. Departures from the ideal which can occur in icing wind tunnels are discussed and the effects of these on the interpretation of experimental results are described. Some consideration is given to methods of improving simulation at high subsonic speeds where the provision of ideal simulation is complicated because of adiabatic cooling effects. |
