Abstract | As unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) become more advanced, discussions and technology developments surrounding their use in urban environments are increasing in importance. Urban environments are aerodynamically challenging because of complex flow structures and high levels of turbulence encountered around buildings. Relatively limited studies have focused on the effects that gusting has on UAV aerodynamic performance. This study is focused on gust modelling development towards understanding the aeroelastic response and more generally flight dynamics of UAVs operating in gusty urban environments. |
